A helmet that is too tight won't get worn. This 4 mm foam is one of the thinnest available: it frees up maximum space, equivalent to an XXL size.
It is also the part to buy when the original foam has compressed or started to smell like a July session — it can be replaced in a minute, as the velcro is already in place.
